The FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony is 7 days away and the world just got even more excited. Shakira will headline the opening ceremony in Mexico City, performing the official tournament song “Dai Dai” alongside Nigerian superstar Burna Boy at Estadio Azteca on June 11 before hosts Mexico face South Africa.
“Dai Dai” is Shakira’s fourth song associated with a World Cup, 16 years after she made a global splash with “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010.
The opening ceremony at Mexico City Stadium will get underway 90 minutes before kick-off, featuring some of the most exciting voices in global music including Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
And it doesn’t stop there. In Canada, Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette will headline festivities before Canada’s opening game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12. In the United States, Katy Perry and Future will perform before the US men’s national team face Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Shakira will also co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show on July 19 alongside Madonna and K-pop boyband BTS.
